Andi Gilkey

 

Andi, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, began her career in the mental health profession after graduating from Western Kentucky University in 1999. While working at an inpatient psychiatric facility, she obtained her Masters Degree from the Kent School of Social Work at The University of Louisville in 2004. Andi continued her career working in an inpatient psychiatric facility gaining experience with children, adolescents and adults. She took a particular interest in treating children with attachment issues and trauma. She went on to serve as the Clinical Director at the facility until 2011.

Andi opened a private practice in 2007. She completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in 2013 and she went on to obtain her International Certification in this specialized form of therapy in 2018. She recently obtained certification in the Safe and Sound Protocol developed by Dr. Stephen Porges and offers this service both in office and remotely.

Andi has dedicated her career to supporting children, teens, and families through the fearful and often times unpredictable journeys in life. The  primary areas of focus throughout Andi's professional development include ADHD, Anxiety/Phobias, Childhood Bipolar Disorder, Impulse Control Symptoms, Social Skill Enhancement and Traumatic Experiences. She uses creative interventions such as play, art and sand tray therapy to successfully treat clients.
